With the holiday season upon us, let’s have some more fun with our newest blog, Would You Rather.
As you will see, the choices aren’t easy – and that’s the way it’s meant to be. But it is meant to stir up some good discussion.
As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons ( 4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don’t forget to come back later and view the results!
Totally Tigers loves your comments! But please remember that responses are only published if they address today’s topic, are respectful and do not exceed the maximum 3-4 sentence response length. All rules are at: https://totallytigers.wordpress.com/commentsrules/.
I have no confidence that Chris Ilitch has either the ability or the motivation to make the Detroit Tigers a competitive member of Major League Baseball.

Yup….need NEW direction, NEW blood.

I’d rather see a logical plan under Ilitch because I don’t think there’d be a logical plan under Gilbert. Other than the fact that he’s not Chris Ilitch, I don’t understand the infatuation people have with Gilbert buying the team. What has he done with the Cavaliers that makes people think he knows how to run a team? He failed so badly that Lebron left his home town to have a chance to win.

To me, Gilbert is just a “name” for new blood, new direction. I don’t care who it is, it just has to move on / change.

Holly and Kurt like I said before when and if my baby brother who is one of Dan Gilbert’s recently promoted Senior Vice Presidents lets me know that a sale is imminent I shall let you know when
Whether Dan Gilbert is the best option for an owner is beyond my area of expertise

I voted for the Gilbert purchase because Leopards don’t change their spots and I’m more likely to rise from my wheelchair and walk than see CI replace the cronies in his slowly (?) rotting organization. In his twisted mind things are working right according to the plan. He takes inspiration from W.C. and Martha’s play book.

#1 because changing owners guarantees nothing. We saw that when Mike Illitch bought the Tigers. I don’t care who the owner is as long as the Tigers are competitive.

An absolute no brainer. #1 based on Kid Ilitches track record of nothing!

Even considering my last name, I would say I would rather see evidence of a real plan, even under Illich. Other than one year under Dan-the-man, exactly how much weight should his disaster on the lake carry??

Well it’s good to know that the Tigers weren’t cheating.

I don’t doubt that they tried,; like with most things they couldn’t compete on an analog basis against a digital baseball world. The Astro’s garbage can was hard to believe and would be more Tiger-like.

You’re not picking on garbage cans, are you?

Implying that they weren’t/aren’t trying?? 🙂

No Doug, I’d imagine they would, just like most teams to get an edge. But like with everything else they do, just wouldn’t be very good at it. 😣

I honestly wouldn’t care who the owner is, as long as there was real progress toward returning to competitiveness.

#1. Be careful what you ask for …

I just couldn’t vote for either one. A box with “other” would have been my choice.

I voted for Gilbert, not because I have any illusions that he is going to be the savior that makes this team into a World Series Team. I am just so fed up with Chris Illitch and his lack passion for this team and the impression that he leaves us fans that he could care less about what’s going on with the Tigers!! At least if Gilbert comes in, he would hopefully clean house and get rid of the entire staff from top to bottom. That in itself would be a step in the right direction!!

The one real positive with a Gilbert purchase would be the probability that Leyland and his “crew” might actually be canned!!!

Hard to argue with that!
