  1. Biggest wish for April: Dan Norris grabs this opportunity to begin the season as our 5th starter and makes it impossible to send him down to AAA. Would much rather see him given a chance to mature on the job than spend more time on Fiers.

  2. Despite all of the negativity surrounding my Tigers, they did not lose yesterday on opening day in Detroit. A much more positive start than we were led to expect.

  3. I guess it wouldn’t bother me if TT didn’t spend any more time discussing the Detroit sports media. I understand how frustrating it is to not have local media that actually delve into distatseful topics, but they don’t, so why bother getting worked up about it? What bothers me is Leyland lurking in broad daylight. More harm was done by keeping Brad for 4 years than could ever be done by a bunch of pussy-footing hacks!

    • While I agree with your Leyland comment, maybe if those pussy-footing hacks had put a little fire into their reporting, Brad wouldn’t have been there for 4 years to do all that damage. They let him get away with the “well, that’s baseball” response for 4 years.

      • Whether or not the Hacks talked about it, the utter lack of fire in the belly that epitomized Brad’s tenure was in full view for all to see. The open disrespect shown by some of the players towards Brad was not a secret. The decline in attendance alone should have spurred ownership to do something much sooner than they did. With that said, I suppose the Hacks could have sped things up a little.

    • Truth is that all major papers in this country are dying fast…they all have skeletal staffs now and desperately need funding and advertising revenue that is not there…many have already folded and the rest are being propped up by rich owners such as Murdoch, or Bezos, etc…. a major problem that lends itself to what we have now, slanted news and poor journalism standards. There are numerous outlets, like TT to get your news fix today…the hear alternate opinions.

    • Hi, Sprocket – I won’t speak for Kurt, but the reason I hold the local media’s feet to the fire is for the stories they blatantly ignore that need to be reported, for the news they know but don’t report and for the propaganda they present to many readers who certainly buy into it all. If you’re silent, you allow them to get away with it. But I also report on Leyland and all the other holdovers, too. Hope you caught the blog recently about my concern over JL’s daily influence. Thanks for keeping the dialog going! – Holly

  4. Watching the opening day lineup announcement. Largely empty stadium. If this (nfl style drop off) goes on, wonder how long the deliberate tanking strategy will go on. Tigers stadium looks as empty as the niners stadium.

    • It’s the bottom of the second now and the stadium appears to be filling up. I still love Opening Day no matter what! But I do admit to watching from the comfort and warmth of my living room.
